Shtokman project postponed?
The final investment decision in the Shtokman project could be delayed with up to one year, a representative of the Norwegian INTSOK oil and gas organisation said in a seminar today. He also said that the project most likely will be developed with the help of a floating production ship.
Mr. Håkon Skretting, leader of INTSOK’s Russia department, believes the final investment decision in the Shtokman project could be delayed. Speaking in a seminar in Stavanger today, Mr. Skretting said that the postponement comes because of “slow progress and general delays”, Oilinfo.no reports.
The Shtokman development phase, which was planned for 2009 will start no earlier than in 2010, the representative of the Norwegian oil and gas industry said.
Mr. Skretting also said that the field will be developed with a so-called Floating Storage and Offloading (FSO) solution. That is a type of floating tank system designed to take the gas produced from templates and store it until it is offloaded to a pipeline.
Oil and gas company StatoilHydro does not want to comment on the information from Mr. Skretting, Oilinfo.no reports.
StatoilHydro controls 24 percent in the Shtokman Development Company. Gazprom controls 51 percent, while Total controls 25 percent.
