“Shtokman will be tough”

-The Shtokman project will be a very tough race, StatoilHydro’s Per Kjærnes said at a recent presentation in Bodø, Norway. He believes the hardest part will be the construction of the field platform. –Very much is going to be done in very short time, the company representative underlined.

StatoilHydro and its project partners Gazprom and Total will in September this year present a plan on the construction and management of the project. The construction period is estimated to 56 months, E24.no reports. -We have to work in another culture and in a difference decision-making environment. If we do not manage this, we have nothing to do in Russia, Mr. Kjærnes said. -The platform will be the main challenge. It is to be designed in a way which makes it possible to detach, move it away and re-attach it as icebergs approach, the head of the department of field development in StatoilHydro Russia maintained. He did not see any major problems with the construction of sub-sea facilities and pipelines, either with the Teriberka port and LNG plant. The StatoilHydro representative in his presentation also said that the construction of a railway and powerlines to Teriberka will be started already this year.
