StatoilHydro looks to Russian Arctic

StatoilHydro’s Bengt Lie Hansen confirms that the Russian Arctic is a top priority area for Norwegian oil and gas major. “Our focus, to a large extent, is Russia”, he told Bloomberg.

“Russia is interesting because its resource potential is big based on the general analyses, but we don’t know if the resources are there until we’ve drilled, and there’s very little drilling that has been done,” Lie Hansen told Bloomberg, the Moscow Times reports. StatoilHydro is the operating company of the Snøhvit field, the first hydrocarbon field in the Barents Sea opened for production. The company also has a 24 percent stake in the Shtokman Development AG and a 40 percent stake in the Kharyaga PSA.
