StatoilHydro soon history

The name StatoilHydro will disappear sometime in 2009 and be exchanged with a totally new name. However, the energy company’s new name is still a secret.

The two Norwegian oil and gas companies, Statoil and Hydro merged in December 2006. This led to a huge debate about which new name the company should choose. The debate ended with using both names in StatoilHydro.

Now it seems like both Statoil and Hydro will disappear within a year, when the company’s new name is presented, according to Norwegian newspaper Dagens Næringsliv. The new name proposal will be presented on StatoilHydros general assembly next spring.

The company’s head of information, Ola Morten Aanestad, says that the new name shall reflect the company’s business policy, its value base and its vision.
