Technical plan for Shtokman ready in October
The technical plan for the Shtokman field development will be ready in October-November 2010 says Vice President of the Shtokman Development Erve Madeo. The company has now received two proposals on technical solutions for the offshore production platform.
The technical project will be ready in good time before the shareholders are to take the investment decision in March 2010, Madeo said in a meeting with Russian suppliers and subcontractors on Tuesday, RIA Novosti reports. According to Madeo, there are no unsolved technical problems connected to the project.

Shtokman Development has received two technical proposals on a production platform from two international consortiums, RIA Novosti reports. In the first consortium are the companies Aker Solutions, Technip and SBM, in the second – Saipem, Samsung and Sofec.
- The next step will be to call for quotations and present them to the shareholders, Madeo says, and adds that since the suppliers have presented their technical solutions, the project is “practically ready”.
According to Vice President in the French oil company Total Arno Breyak, the delays in the project are not connected with falling demand on gas on the European market, but with bureaucratic and technical delays from the Russian side, Nezavisimaya Gazeta writes. According to Breyak the topographic and hydrographic information on the area was secret, and it took half a year to have the secrecy label withdrawn. In addition, Russian shipbuilding companies demanded extra time to prepare their tenders.
The project launch has been postponed from 2014 to 2016 and the final investment decision will be made only in 2011, and not in 2010 as earlier planned.
