Ten months jail for trespassing
A group of four Afghans have been sentenced to ten months of jail for having attempted to illegally cross the Russian-Norwegian border.
The Murmansk regional court last week sentenced the four men to ten months of jail for their attempt to illegally cross the border to Norway earlier this year. The men were caught by Russian border guards near the border town of Nikel when preparing the trespassing. The sentence can not be appealed Murmannews reports. The 196 km long border to Norway is one of Russia’s most quiet borders. Still the number of cases of illegal border crossings is on the increase. According to the FSB, a total of 14 cases of trespassing had been registered in the area the first half of the year. Most of the trespassers are from Central Asia, China and the Middle East.
