The diffuse future of the Belokamenka
Murmansk Governor Yuri Yevdokimov recently said that the Belokamenka floating oil terminal would be removed from the Kola Bay following the development of the Murmansk Transport Hub. Now his administration rebuffs the information.
As reported by BarentsObserver last week, Governor Yevdokmov said that all floating terminal facilities would be removed from the Kola Bay following the development of the Murmansk Transport Hub and the construction of a new land-based oil terminal.
Now, however, the governor’s own Department of Industry and Transport rebuffs the information from governor. According to the department, the “rumours about the removal of the “Belokamenka” does not have any serious basis”.
“We can not abstain from using this object, since we do not yet have any real alternative, a representative of the department says to B-port.com.
The 360,000 oil tanker has the last two years been operating in the Kola Bay as terminal ship. Reportedly, the tanker annually brings 5 billion RUB of incomes to the region.
