The first Arkhangelsk diamonds sold in auction
The Severolmaz company has conducted its first diamond auction. Buyers from all over the world attended the event held in Moscow on 28 April.
The auction was organized with support of the Diamond Chamber of Russia, Severinform.ru reports. The press-service of Severalmaz, a subsidiary under Russian diamond major Alrosa, reports that a total of 42 lots, with diamonds of various size and weight and even of unusual colours as yellow, green and pink, were for sale. All of the diamonds sold were extracted by the Severalmaz company at the Lomonosov diamond deposit in Arkhangelsk Oblast. The biggest diamond extracted in the deposit so far is 48 carats. Several companies from Russia, Belarus, Belgium, India, Israel and Dubai were competing for the northern diamonds. For the first time in the history of such auctions in Russia, both Russian and foreign companies could view the goods at the same time and later sell at the domestic and foreign markets. The expectations of the Severalmaz company were fully met, Severinform.ru reports: experts highly evaluated the diamonds.
