The new government of Murmansk
A major reorganisation of the Murmansk regional administration has left out several former key officials and raised the status of others.
The new structure is based on the establishment of ministries instead of the former departments, model which is similar to the federal government structure. Two former key persons are out of the new administration. Nikolay Berezhnoy and Pyotr Prints were respectively deputy governor with responsibility for construction and housing affairs and head of the Department of Industry and Transport. A part of their duties are now taken over by Sergey Leus, who becomes Minister of Industry and Energy. The other Murmansk ministers are Valerii Talichkin (Minister of Ecnomic Development), Vasilii Kostyukevich (Minister of Education), Tatiana Melnichenko (Ministry of property relations), Valerii Palkin (Minister of Social Development), Aleksey Smirnov (Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology), Vitalii Mezhenin (Minister of Territorial Development, Construction and Housing, Arkadii Rubin (Minister of Health) and Yevgenii Mironenko (acting Minister of Finances). First Deputy Governors are Aleksandr Makarov and Boris Vorobyov, while Sergey Subbotin, Vyacheslav Akatyev and Lyudmila Chistova have become deputy governors. Head of government affairs is Valerii Budagovskii. The undisputed leader of the region remains Governor Yuri Yevdokimov.
