The northernmost chapel in European Russia
A Russian public organisation this summer intends to erect a Russian Orthodox chapel on the Rybachii Poluostrov (“Fisherman’s Island”), the northernmost spot on Russia’s European mainland.
The chapel will be built by the “Vimpel” public organisation for 2WW veterans to the commemoration of fallen Soviet comerades. It will be devoted to the saint Georgii Pobedonostev. The Fisherman’s Peninsula was scene for heavy fighting during the 2WW.
