Tromsø and Arkhangelsk team up
The Mayors of Arkhangelsk and Tromsø signed the twin-cities agreement on Thursday.
The cooperation already covers a wide range of projects in higher education, medical care, social services, culture. The new agreement is expected to give a new impulse of interrelations between Tromsø and Arkhangelsk especially in relation of Arctic development.
Both cities demonstrate own specific role in training specialists for Arctic exploration and in research activity in the arctic areas. On Friday, Arild Hausberg and the delegation from Tromsø municipality visited the Northern Arctic Federal University and other institutions of educational and social sector in Arkhangelsk.
Last year, the Northern Arctic Federal university signed an agreement on cooperation with the University of Tromsø.
