”Unfair treatment of Russia”
-It is unfair that Russia is pictured as a threat against the West, the country’s ambassador to Norway said in a seminar in Oslo yesterday. The ambassador wants more cooperation between Russia and the West.
-Stop treating Russia as a scarecrow, Ambassador Sergey Andreev said in his presentation at newspaper Aftenposten’s foreign policy seminar yesterday. He underlined that there is no new cold war in the emerging, but rather an “information war”, with Western media presenting Russia in a biased way. Mr. Andreev said that Europe and the USA is both militarily and economically superior to Russia and that Russia is more dependent on the European market that Europe is on Russian gas. -Now we have to stop interfering in each other’s domestic affairs and [rather] cooperate about resolving real problems like international terrorism and drug trade, the ambassador told the seminar audience, Afterposten reports. Mr. Andreev also said that he does not see the higher level of military rehearsals in the High North as something extraordinary. –Our improved economic situation has given us the opportunity to do more training, he said, adding that “we have big areas to defend”.
