United Russia got 43 percent in Nenets AO

United Russia got 43 percent of the votes yesterday’s regional parliament elections in the Nenets Autonomous Okrug.

According to preliminary results, United Russia safely won the election to the legislative assembly in the Nenets Autonomous Okrug. The election turnout was 49 percent. The United Russia got 43 percent of the votes or six seats in the assembly, the Сommunist Party got 21 percent (two seats), the Liberal Democratic Party got 20 percent (two seats) and “A Just Russia” 13 percent (one seat). The new regional assembly will have 11 members. The ruling party got less votes than anticipated. One of the reasons for the result might be the sudden replacement of the regional head of administration. In the last election to the Okrug’s assembly in 2005, the Communist Party won. In 2007, the United Russia won 48 percent of regional votes in the State Duma elections. BarentsObserver Naryan-Mar
