United Russia is the winner
The government-loyal United Russia Party has won 47 of 64 of the town mayors in yesterday’s municipal elections in the Komi Republic. The party is expected to the be the big winner also in neighbouring Arkhangelsk Oblast and Nenets Autonomous Okrug.
According to Komiinform.ru, the United Russia in addition to the municipal mayors also won 1181 of the 1636 seats in the municipal assemblies.
The Communist Party won five municipal mayors, while six of the winners were independent candidates.
Voter turnout in the region was 34,54 percent.
Municipal elections were yesterday also held in Arkhangelsk Oblast and in the Nenets Autonomous Okrug. There, voter turnout was respectively 37,76 and 40 percent, Regnum reports.
In Arkhangelsk Oblast, 181 municipal mayors and the 1841 members to the region’s 200 municipalities were voted on. By the time of writing, the election results had not yet been announced by the Arkhangelsk Election Commission.
