United Russia plans regional budget cuts

The United Russia Party has prepared a major plan for cuts in regional budgets. However, it will take not be made public before after the March 1 elections.

Before the March 1 elections, only the opposition parties talk about crisis. However, after the elections, the United Russia will have to take measures to handle the situation. An extensive plan on budget cuts in the regions have been elaborated, news site Rusnord.ru reports with reference to Rossiiskaya Gazeta. However, it will not be made public until after the elections, the site adds. As BarentsObserver has reported, several regions plan drastic cuts in their budget. The Arkhangelsk regional administration earlier this year indicated that it might have to cut up to 15 percent of spending. Now, that figure might have become even higher.
