Unprecedented railway construction
There are no analogues in world history on the construction of railways in such difficult climatic and nature condition, a source in Gazprom says about the Bovanenkovskoe-Ob railway line. The line will connect the gas-rich Yamal peninsula with the Russian railway grid.
Gazprom is building the railway line which will connect the biggest of the regional fields – the Bovanenkovskoe. The field is to be in production from year 2011.
The Gazprom source says to RusKomPress that the construction is proceeding quickly and ahead of schedules. Parts of the railway line is already in operation, used for the transport of construction materials to the Bovanenkovskoe, Yamal.org reports.
The first train is expected to run on the completed railway line in December 2009
