Urges ban on seal hunting

Regional authorities in Arkhangelsk urges the State Committee for Fisheries to impose a complete ban on Greenland seal hunting in the White Sea. The reason is that the ice in the White Sea is too thin for people to walk on.

The ban can put a stop to Russian-Norwegian agreement to slaughter whitecoats baby seals for this season, reports Interfax. A cooperation agreement signed last year by the Arkhangelsk regional administration and the Norwegian company Riber Skinn AS outlines Norwegian assistance to Russian hunters.
