”Very negative impressions from Arkhangelsk”
-My impressions from Arkhangelsk Oblast are very negative, member of the State Duma from the “A Just Russia Party” Svetlana Petrovna said after her visit to the region this week. She maintains that Arkhangelsk Oblast is now among the ten worst-off regions in Russia.
The A Just Russia representative says to Dvinainform.ru that “Arkhangelsk Oblast has become one of Russia’s ten poorest regions”. In addition she maintains that the political establishment is suppressing the opposition in the region. -In the region, there is no will to listen to the opposition – they close public meeting places and do not allow people to meet, at night time they have confiscated election materials from one of the parties, she says. -My impressions from this trip are very distressing, she concludes. The visit to Arkhangelsk was held as part of the party’s regional election campaign. Regional parliament elections are to be held in the region on March 1.
