WW 2 in Northern Norway on the big screen
Two Norwegian film production companies are planning to spend 400 million NOK on two films about World War 2 in Northern Norway.
Two different Norwegian film production companies are planning to make movies about the war in Northern Norway, a part of Norwegian war history that till now has received little attention fom the broad audience. One film will deal with the battle of Narvik, while the other will concentrate on the use of the scorched earth tactic in Finnmark and northern Troms at the end of the war.
The production company Film Camp is planning a 170 million NOK feature film and a 40 million NOK documentary for television about the war in Narvik in 1940.
- This production will without doubt be of great interest, not only in the countries that took part in the war in Narvik, Svein Andersen in Film Camp says, web site Siste.no writes. Norwegian, British, Polish, German and Austrian forces took part in the battle of Narvik.
The documentary is planned to be ready in 2011.
The film production company Borealis Production is planning a 200 million NOK film about the burning of Finnmark and the liberation by Soviet troops. This will be the most expensive feature film ever made in Norway, NRK reports.
1000 extras, German movie stars and Russian soldiers will be involved when shooting starts in 2010.
