Yet another naval fire in Murmansk
A fire broke out aboard the coast guard vessel “Ural” yesterday while it was docked in Murmansk. This is the third fire in a military vessel in only six weeks.
The vessel was in dry-docking for repair works at a ship repair yard in Murmansk when a fire broke out in one of the cabins. Four of the vessel’s crew members were injured, one of them taken to hospital with light carbon monoxide poisoning after the accident, Komsomolskaya Pravda reports.
This is the third fire in a vessel belonging to the Navy or Coast Guard (FSB) in Murmansk in six weeks. On December 30 the strategic nuclear-powered submarine “Yekaterinburg” was severely damaged in a massive fire and on January 19 a smaller fire blazed up aboard the nuclear-powered attack submarine “Gepard”. The latter was regarded by the navy as an incident and not classified as a real fire, according to Interfax.
