Young parliamentarians meet in Arkhangelsk

Young politicians from Nordic countries and Northwest-Russia gathered today in Arkhangelsk for the third International Forum for Young Politicians.

The participants represent different regional and local political levels in Northwest Russia and the Norwegian, Swedish and Danish parliaments.

The issues that will be discussed during this year’s forum are student mobility and young people’s opportunities for studies and work.

The first Forum for Young Politicians was held in Murmansk in 2009, on initiative from young Russian parliamentarians who had visited Norway and Sweden the previous year. In 2010 Kirkenes, Norway hosted the forum.

In his opening speech at the forum, Evgeny Nikora – Speaker of the Murmansk Regional Duma underlined the importance of modernizing the education process and the need to chose a profession that is relevant to society, TV21 reports.
