Expert: Putin uses Stalin’s strategies

General director of the Political information Centre Aleksey Muhin says the speech of Vladimir Putin at the “United Russia” congress reveals the model of his strategy in the election campaign.

Putin is intending to use Stalin’s image as an effective manager, RBC daily reports.

Political scientists think that this step will let Putin preserve the image of a strong leader as well as to draw the attention of the people who want to vote for communists.

Putin finished his speech with the phrase:”We have the truth on our side! We will be the winners!” Putin’s speechwriters used a part of one of the most famous Stalin’s speeches for the Soviet public, which first was carried out at 12 00 in June, 22 in 1941, when the Great Patriotic War began.

It is supposed that the idea of involving the Stalin’s image will be accepted among the Russian people. Within several years the percentage of people thinking that Stalin’s role was positive grew from 15 till 26%. The percentage of people thinking differently fell from 33 to 24%. Though most of the population believes, that his role is quiet ambiguous – 39% (2011).

Stalin’s figure appeals to many different voters. Russian senior citizens (40%) and communist supporters (41%) believe that Stalin has done more positive things than negative. Putin’s image transformation can be directed towards these two groups of population.
