Finland wants no sanctions against Russia

Finnish President Tarja Halonen has condemned Russia’s actions in Georgia, but still does not want the adoption of economic sanctions against the country.

Finland agreed on its sanction position at a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Foreign and Security Policy on Friday, Yle reports. The meeting was held just ahead of the extraordinary EU summit dedicated the Georgian crisis. Ms Halonen also says she considers it unlikely that European Union countries will take economic action against Russia.
