Higher Russian budget deficit

Russia will in 2010 have a budget deficit of 7,2 percent, the country’s Deputy Finance Minister said.

The 7,2 percent deficit is higher than previous estimates. Russian authorities earlier maintained that the deficit would amount to 6,8 percent, Rossiiskaya Gazeta reports. Russia will use money from the Russian Reserve Fund and from the Fund of National Wealth to cover up for the deficit, Deputy Finance Minister Tatiana Nesterenko told Rossiiskaya Gazeta. The Reserve Fund will consequently be totally emptied, the Finance Ministry confirms.
