No more federal money for the regions
-I would like to warn all regions that 2010 will be a very hard year in financial terms and that they must cut budget spending maximum, a federal Finance Ministry representative said this week.
Head of the Finance Minstry’s Department of Inter-budgetary relations, Larisa Yeroshkina, in a meeting in Sankt Petersburg on Thursday said that the federal government plans no extra money for the regions except inter-budgetary transfers and protected budget posts.
Ms. Yeroshina confirmed that the government plans major cuts in the federal 2010 budget. –We will cut everything except the protected budget posts, she stressed, Regnum reports.
She at the same time admitted that the government discussed ways to protect socially weak groups. However, the cabinet does not intend to support categories of citizens but rather “concrete needing people“.
