Stalin celebrated in Arkhangelsk

ARKHANGELSK: During World War 2, there was a huge statue of Stalin on the Square of Victory. Today, the Norwegian Honorary Consulate and the Barents Secretariat is located here.

The Stalinists of Arkhangelsk marked the Day of memory of the leader of the world proletariat Comrade Josef Vissarionovich Stalin. March 5 is the date of his death in 1953.

The demonstrators met on Saturday at the Square of Victory in Arkhangelsk where the big monument to Stalin was built during the years of the World War 2. The original huge monument of Stalin was taken down some time after 1953.

A mini-statue of Stalin was again erected on the square and the seven Stalin-supporters in Arkhangelsk placed roses around it.

Last year, the Norwegian Honorary Consulate and the Norwegian Barents Secretariat opened its office in the building in front of the square where Stalin once stood.
