Stoltenberg on promo-tour in border area
The maritime border agreement could create new businesses, new jobs and new cooperation across the borders, says Norway’s Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg.
Stoltenberg is today touring the fjord near Norway’s border to Russian in the north. Entering Kirkenes from the sea, the Prime Minister will mark the occasion that the delimitation agreement on the maritime borders in the Barents Sea is entering force within the next 30 days.
The exchange of the border treaty documents between the two countries Foreign Ministers, Jonas Gahr Støre and Sergey Lavrov took place in Oslo yesterday.
- This is not an agreement for a border that should divide. This is an agreement that build a bridge. A deal that makes the fundament for an even closer cooperation in the Barents Sea and Arctic Ocean, says Jens Stoltenberg.
