Extra funding for naval bases
Murmansk Governor Dmitri Dmitriyenko confirms that the closed military towns in the Kola Peninsula will get additional financing in 2011.
Talking to journalists last week, Governor Dmitriyenko said that most of the extra funding will be spent on measures raising life quality in the towns. Among the measures is the construction of new sport facilities and kindergartens and modernization of schools, a press release from the regional administration reads.
The regional administration in Murmansk is currently working on the regional budget for 2011. The closed military towns are financed together with the federal Ministry of Defence.

There are a total of six closed military towns along the coast of the Kola Peninsula. They are all key bases for the powerful Northern Fleet.
