Medvedev: Financial crisis will not affect military investments
The parameters of the state military orders will not be changed but remain on the planned level, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev yesterday told high-ranking officers.
Russia this year plans total military orders of 1.3 trillion RUB, 332 billion RUB of which will be acquisitions of new military hardware, RIA Novosti reports.
-Despite financial difficulties, the parameters of the state military investments in hardware will remain on the level we have planned for, the president stressed, a press release from the Kremlin reads.
Medvedev told his officers that a higher level of operational management of the armed forces must be introduced and that equipment must be improved. He did admit that some corrections could occure.
-The priorities will not be changed, [although] the means, goals, objects and terms to achieve them change, he said
The president also told the officers that social obligations for the military will be followed up.
-This is an absolute priority, which we can not alter under any circumstance, the president said.
