Northern Fleet commander elected Man of the Year
Commander of Russia’s Northern Fleet Vice Admiral Nikolay Maksimov is elected “Man of the Year” in the category for navy.
Admiral Maksimov won the reward for his excellent commanding of the fleet, the Russian Biographic Institute’s web site reads.
All together 32 persons were elected as winners in the different categories in this national competition, amongst them President Dmitry Medvedev and Prime Minister Vladimir Putin in the category for state activity and Patriarch Kirill in the category for religion.
The national reward “Man of the Year” was established in 1993 by the Russian Biographic Institute. The winners are elected by an expert panel of politicians, scientists, culture workers etc.
Admiral Maksimov visited the Norwegian Barents Secretariat in October and spoke highly about the secretariat’s work.
