Northern Fleet heads for Atlantic
A group of powerful Russian Northern Fleet vessels will today leave its main base of Severomorsk (Murmansk Oblast) and head for the Atlantic.
The vessels, headed by missile cruiser “Petr Velikii”— the flagship of the Northern Fleet — and the “Admiral Chabanenko” will today take off from Severomorsk to the Atlantic Sea. The vessels will be accompanied by a number of smaller Navy ships, RIA Novosti reports. A part of the mission will be a joint Navy rehearsal with vessels from Venezuela. -We have both training and real military hardware on board, deputy nay commander Nikolay Karachun says. –It is all checked and in good condition, the vessels are technically fit, the crews are well equipped and 100 percent of all spare parts are on board the accompanying vessels, he adds.
