Russia to ”adjust defence programme”

Following the conflict over South Ossetia, adjustments will be made in the Armed Forces’ development programme, General Anatolii Nogovitsyn says. The approach to the construction and development of the Armed Forces, as well as their ability to implement planned missions will be reviewed, he confirms.

-We understand that it is necessary to review the approach to the construction and development of the Armed Forces, Mr. Nogovitsyn says. –We are working on it, he adds in a press release.

The military leader also says that his General Staff is studying all military operations in ongoing conflicts in the world. –None of the conflicts are similar, they all have their specifics […] The variety of these issues are left to be studied, also with the help of our own experiences, he says. In this respect, military science will weigh heavily, he adds.
