Russian Navy might buy French vessel

The Russian Navy intends to buy a French vessel. The deal will be the Navy’s first ever major acquisition of foreign hardware.

The vessel, which the Russian Navy is interested in, is of the French Mistral class, a vessel designed to assist paratroopers and carry helicopters, Kommersant reports with reference to newspaper Le Tribune. According to the news reports, negotiations are proceeding and a deal is expected to be presented in September. A part of the deal is reportedly the acquisition of a first vessel of the class, and the subsequent construction of another three vessels in a Russian shipyard.
