415 billion RUB “wasted” by Russian regions
The Russian Ministry of Regional Development believes Russian regional authorities in the course of 2009 wasted 415 billion RUB. Arkhangelsk Oblast is among the worst all regions, a report reads.
A new ministry report presented to government this week states that the Russian regions last year spent as much as 415 billion RUB on “empty purposes”, newspaper Vedomosti reports.
Among the worst in the class is Arkhangelsk Oblast, the report states. The northwest Russian regions is mentioned as one of the worst spenders of public money along with Kalykia, Kostroma, Ryazan, Smolensk and Irkutsk.
The report shows that the level of inefficient spending remains unacceptably high in the regions, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said in a government meeting this week.
