Kulagin murder still unsolved

There is still no answer to who killed Karelian human right activist Andrei Kulagin. He was found dead in a sand pit outside Petrozavodsk.

Kulagin was found dead in a sand pit outside Petrozavodsk on July 10 after he went missing in May.

Andrei Kulagin was the regional branch head of the right organization Spravedlivost – “Justice” – in the Republic of Karelia.

Andrei Kulagin and the organization he was working for had fought for the humane treatment of prisoners and worked closely with prison and jail officials in Karelia.

After Kulagin’s body was found, the president of the European Parliament, Jerzy Buzek, called on the Russian authorities to bring to justice the killers of the Karelian human rights activist, reports EurActive.com.
