Murmansk Governor met with Michel Rochard
Governor of Murmansk Oblast Dmitri Dmitriyenko this week met with French politician and envoy on Polar issues Michel Rochard.
Mr. Rochard, former French prime minister and now Member of the European Parliament, on Tuesday this week met with Governor Dmtiriyenko to discuss Arctic developments, a press release from the regional government reads.
The prominent politician headed a delegation which visits Murmansk this week. On the agenda is the situation in the Arctic including the development of the Shtokman gas field, where French company Total is partner.
-Russian and France have historically always had good relations in the North, but of course, the Shtokman project will lift these relations to a new level, Governor Dmitriyenko said to his French guests.
Rochard came to Murmansk from Moscow, where he had participated at the conference “the Arctic – Territory of Dialogue”, newspaper Murmanski Vestnik reports
