Wildfires spreading north

Forest fires are spreading in nearly all the regions in the European part of Russia. The situation in the North-Western Federal District is getting more and more complicated. Huge fires are registered in Arkhangelsk and Komi regions and in Karelia.

Almost 600 separate fires are still raging and the number of casualties of wildfires has reached 50. In Arkhangelsk Oblast 24 forest fires are raging, covering an area of more than 400 hectare, Interfax reports.

In Moscow, the extreme heat continues. Today another heath record - number 16 so far this year - was set when the temperature reached 34.4°C at noon, the highest ever registered on this date. The highest temperature registered this summer was 38.2°C.
