Russian corruption spreads into Finland

A new report on corporate crime states that shady business from Russian transport companies is about to increase the level of bribery and tax evasion in Finnish business.

The grip of Russian organised crime on road haulage to Russia is seen as a significant threat to Finland, Finnish Transport and Logistics (SKAL) writes in a report soon to be published. In the late 1990s Finns were responsible for about half of all goods transport from Finland to Russia. Now the Finnish share is just five percent, Yle reports. Finland is a major trade partner with Russia, with a significant part of transits from the EU running through the country. The Russian transport business dominates about 90 percent of the transit traffic, and about half of this is believed to involve shady practices, the Finnish broadcaster reports.
