Sweden trades less with neighbors
Swedish imports shrunk 22 percent and exports 20 percent the first half of 2009, figures from Statistics Sweden show. Trade with Russia had the by far biggest drop.
The value of the country’s exports in the period totaled 501 billion SEK while import had a total value of 440 billion SEK, a press release from Statistics Sweden reads. That is a reduction of respectively 20 and 22 percent.
Trade with EU countries in the period dropped 24 percent. Exports and imports with Norway dropped respectively 11 and 22 percent.
Trade with Russia dropped even more. According to the figures, exports to Russia dropped 49 percent while imports dropped 47 percent.
