Shipping to Bovanenkovo restarts
Ships loaded with technical equipment and construction materials are sailing towards the far northern Bovanenkovo gas field in the Yamal Peninsula as the shipping season in the area opens.
As much as 80,000 tons of goods will be shipped to the site by the end of this year’s shipping season, Oilru.com reports.
The Bovanenkovo field is one of the biggest in the gas-rich Yamal Peninsula with its 4,9 trillion cubic meters of reserves. It is the Gazprom-subsidiary Gazprom dobycha Nadym which is main responsible for the project, which is among the biggest ongoing petroleum development project in Russia today.
The goods are transported by vessels sailing from either Arkhangelsk or Sankt Petersburg, and is reloaded into river barges by the mouth of the river Morda-Yakhta in the Baydarata Bay.
The first shipment has already reached the Bovanenkovo construction site, Vslukh.ru reports.
The shipping season in the area is expected to close by the beginning of October.
