Sovcomflot expects more income from shelf
Russia’s largest shipping company Sovcomflot expects to double its share of incomes from shelf projects by 2017.
By 2017 40 percent of Sovcomflot’s incomes will come from projects on the Russian Shelf, Financial Director Nikolay Kolesnikov predicts. In 2011 income from shelf projects amounted to 20 percent of the company’s revenues, B-port writes.
Sovcomflot’s vessels are involved in projects on Sakhalin in the Far East and in Varandey in the Arctic. The company’s plans for the future involve operations on the Prirazlomnoye, Shtokman and Yamal fields.
In February Sovcomflot acquired 100 percent of the shares in Sevmorneftegeofizika (SMNG), Russia’s leading seismic company. Sovcomflot plans to establish a world class seismic survey company specializing in activities on the shelf. Last year the company acquired its first seismic exploration vessel designed for operations in the Arctic, the X-bow 3D seismic vessel “Vyacheslav Tikhonov”, as Barents Observer reported.
