Starving wolves attack villages
Groups of starving wolves have become an increasing problem for several villages in the Komi Republic
The wild animals have repeatedly attacked villages in the northwest Russian Republic of Komi. In several places, wolves have moved into the villages at nighttime and eaten dogs in people’s backyards, Regnum reports.
Authorities in the region are aware of the problem but await a formal request from the villages affected. Then, representatives of the Republican Society of Hunters will be sent to the area, Igor Lipin, leader of the Kuzhba town administration says.
As BarentsObserver recently reported, also bears are an increasing problem in remote areas in Komi.
