Norwegian board member in Murmanshelf
Murmanshelf, an association of oil- and gas suppliers in Murmansk Oblast and Northwest Russia, has its first foreign board member. The association now includes nearly 200 companies.
The association recently held general assembly, where a board was elected. For the first time, a foreigner was elected as board member – Torkild Reinertsen, Director of the Norwegian company Reinertsen AS. New chairman of the board is First Deputy Governor of Murmansk Oblast Sergey Smityushenko, web site B-port.com reports.
The Murmanshelf association offers information service for members and consulting and educational services. One issue the association is concerned with is education of personnel for the petroleum industry. Russia educates less than 100 petroleum specialists every year. In December last year Murmanshelf took the initiative to establish the “Arctic Center for Education of Specialists to the Petroleum Industry”. The final aim for this center is to establish a university for Arctic technology in Murmansk, B-port.com writes.
As BarentsObserver reported, the Norwegian Barents Secretariat recently signed membership with the association.
Murmanshelf was established in 2005 by the regional administration in Murmansk in cooperation with Norwegian energy company Statoil.
