Onega gets bio-fuel plant

The factory will produce 150.000 tons of bio-pellets per year.

Earlier in September Arkhangelsk governor Ilya Mikhalchik announced a USD 161 million investment plan for bio-fuel production in the region, as reported by BarentsObserver.

Now, Russia Info Centre reports about the construction of the first huge plant for production of fuel-pellets. The plant will instead of a former local hydrolysis factory in Onega.

The first stage of the plant is expected to employ 120-200 people. Later, a second stage will include a full-scale biotechnology plant for production of biobutanol from wood waste.
