Russians choose Finland
Almost 2,6 million Russians visited Finland in 2010, an increase of 17 percent from the previous year.
New figures from Statistics Finland show that Russians are by far the biggest group of foreign visitors to Finland. In 2010, a total of 2,56 million Russians visited the country, which is 17 percent more than in 2009. Russians in 2010 accounted for as much as 40 percent of all foreign visitors to the country.
The figures also show that a total of 8500 Russians in 2010 worked in Finland, an increase of 1000 from the previous year.

The increase in cross-border travelling between Russia and Finland is continuing in 2011. According to another study from the statistical service, overnight stays of Russian tourists in Finland in April this year increased by 43 percent year-on-year.

Russians that month spent 67,000 nights in Finland. Swedes came next with about 34,000 nights spent, followed by Germans with 26,000.
