Seven killed in Usinsk fire
Seven construction workers were killed in a fire in their makeshift living quarters in the town of Usinsk in the Komi Republic earlier this week.
The fire in the small shed broke out at 03.30 a.m. when the men allegedly were sleeping. All of the victims were from the southern Russian city of Samara. Usinsk is a booming petroleum city near the border to the Nenets Autonomus Okrug. Many workers from other places in Russia are commuting to Usinsk and their living standards are often in sheds like the one which burned down this week. An investigation into the incident is underway, reports the Russian Ministry for Emergency Situations.
