“Rossiya” will escort the Swedish icebreaking tug “Tor Viking” from the Bering Strait to the western parts of the Northern Sea Route, a journey that is expected to take two weeks, Vesti.ru reports.
The captain of “Rossiya” Aleksander Spirin believes that a transit journey this late in the year will prove that it is possible to extend the sailing season on the Northern Sea Route to also include late autumn and winter periods.
