Three companies in Barents Russia up for privatization
Port of Murmansk, Arkhangelsk Trawler Fleet and the mining company Apatit are all subject to privatization, says the Russian Minister for Economical Development Elvira Nabiullina.
The Russian state intends to sell its shares in ten large and 854 mid-sized companies, newspaper Vedomosti reports. Amongst the ten large companies are Rosneft, Rusgidro, Sberbank and Sovcomflot. The airline company Aeroflot, which was said to be up for privatization, will not be sold this time, Nabiullina said.
The state plans to earn nearly RUB 1 trillion (app €23.6 billion) from the sales of the shares in the ten large companies. The companies themselves will earn about RUB 800 million (app €18.9 million).
The 854 mid-sized companies include the airline company Sibir, the mining company Apatit outside Kirovsk, the Port of Murmansk and Arkhangelsk Trawler Fleet, newspaper Vzglyad writes.
The packets of shares are worth some RUB 500 million (app €11.8 million) for each company.
The Apatit company, located in and around the Khibiny mountains, is a cornerstone enterprise on the Kola Peninsula. Until 2005, the company was 50 percent owned by Menatep, a Yukos company.
