Tidal power and wind park near submarine base
The company RusHydro plans the construction of a new wind power park in the Ura Bay, near the Kislogubskaya tidal power plant and the strategically important Vidyaeva nuclear submarine base.
The wind park is intended to supplement the Kislogubskaya tidal power station, located on the Barents Sea coast, with green energy. Wind measurements have already started in the area, Murman.ru reports.
In the first project phase, four wind generators with a total capacity of 1,2 MWh will be built. That will be supplemented by several more windmills in the second phase with a capacity of up to 10 MWh.
The Kislogubskaya station is the only operating tidal power plant in Russia. The station was upgraded with new technology constructed by the Sevmash plant in Severodvinsk two years ago.
The Ura Guba from before houses some of Russia’s most advanced nuclear submarines. The Northern Fleet’s Vidyaevo base has several Typhoon subs.
As reported by BarentsObserver, there are plans for windmill parks several places along the Russian Barents Sea coast, among them near
