War Ministry says two drones downed in Arkhangelsk Oblast
Two of the ten Ukrainian drones Russia claims to have shot down on Sunday were in the Arkhangelsk region.
It is unclear where in the Arkhangelsk region the drones were downed.
According to local media, mobile internet is also shut down, both in the city of Arkhangelsk and in the wider region. This is the second time this week that the internet is disconnected in Arkhangelsk.
Russia is allegedly shutting down the mobile internet because Ukrainian drones are believed to the navigate with the help of geo-data from mobile antennas.
On Thursday, November 20, authorities closed the air space near Kotlas airport in the southern part of the Oblast. No reasons were given, but it is known that air traffic is redirected when drones are detected.
The War Ministry said on Telegram that a total of 10 drones were downed in Russia on Sunday. The others were hit in Belgorod Oblast, Moscow region and in Kaluga Oblast.
However, the officials said nothing about the Ukrainian drones there hit their targets inside Russia. According to the newspaper Independent, the Shatura Power Station which is located some 120 kilometres east of Moscow was hit early on Sunday.
A video posted on social media shows the heat plant on fire simultaneously as air defence is shooting at another incoming drone that hits the plant.
💥 Russia: Ukrainian strikes annihilated a major combined heat & power plant in Shatura, Moscow region. One of the oldest plants in the country with a capacity of 1,500MW. At least 820 MW taken offline - equivalent to electricity usage of 1.5 million Muscovites.
